History

Stanley Knight & Co owned by Stanley Knight was an East London practice with its origins going back to the early 1950s. The practice gained local recognition and an enviable reputation within the local business community.

In 1970 Stanley was joined by Paul Wheeler to form Knight Wheeler & Co until Stanley’s retirement in the late 1970s when his sons, Graham and Colin, were introduced into the partnership. Subsequently, Paul and Colin left to pursue other interests leaving Graham to run the practice until 1992 when he sold the business to John Heywood. In 1995 the firm moved its offices from Walthamstow to its present location in Waltham Abbey.

In 1999 the practice was merged with J Clark & Co, a practice owned by David Turner and based in Enfield, with the newly merged entity being run from our offices at Waltham Abbey. At this time, John and David were joined in partnership by Paul Heywood (John’s son) and Simon Ross (John’s nephew) until 2004 when John and David retired although both have been retained as consultants to the practice.

In 2011 Steven Marsh FCA joined the practice as a consultant and his speciality is dealing with the media, especially Advertising Creatives, Journalists and Television based clients. Steven has many years experience in this niche and exciting sector and advises on tax planning as well as other business and accounting issues.
